for the big day tomorrow, a few words of advice:

Curing hangovers - Vitamins and other Nutrients helpful for hangovers
Hangovers, causes by drinking too much alcohol, produce unpleasant symptoms including headache, nausea and fatigue, resulting from a combination of dehydration and inability of the liver to flush out toxins quickly enough. Taking a vitamin B-complex supplement plus 1g of vitamin C before and after drinking, and consuming plenty of water, can help ward off the worst effects of a hangover.

Vitamins helpful for hangover
Vitamin A is a powerful antioxidant.
Vitamin B-complex is needed to replace vitamins lost through drinking.
Vitamin C helps to protect the liver.
Vitamin E helps to detoxify your body.

Selenium is an antioxidant and increases the potency of vitamin E.
Zinc helps to detoxify the body.

More Nutrients helpful for hangover
Omega-3 fish oils help mop up harmful free radicals produced when alcohol is broken down.
Bioflavonoids increase the action of vitamin C.

Fresh fruits and vegetables, low-fat dairy products, lentils, dried fruit, almonds and coconut.

it's been a while since i've seen your smile....

lordy lord, where to start? let's begin with the fact that each and every night i am mobbed by people walking up and down my block and children running up my steps and running around on my porch. each and every night, i walk outside among throngs of people who come far and wide to check out this semi-oddity that is 34th street in hampden. i start with this because it's pretty surreal, pretty awesome, and definitely has effected my late night hours the last few weeks. it's cool, though. i haven't minded any of it so far because everyone is so HAPPY to be there and the children and families are so joyous and full of awe - it's really just quite delightful and sweet. i don't even mind the parking or traffic problems. it's all worth it!

i'll take a few pics tonight and post em, so you can see what's what.

in other news, i got a haircut. really, the story that goes along with the haircut is way more interesting than the haircut itself. but, i don't have the energy to even tell it again, as i've told so many people, i feel. i don't even know why i bothered mentioning it.

i've been reading a lot recently because my blockbuster pass has gone up in price so i am boycotting them for a while, or else will set up netflix or something. so far i've finished a book every 3 days or so, and i haven't read the last few days because i have been procrastinating a trip to the library. but lo and behold, that's where i am now. i'm pick up "The Autograph Man" by Zadie Smith and "Then We Set His Hair on Fire" by Phil Dusenberry. I've read "Prep" (which was just in Time Magazine on it's must-read book list), "Chore Whore" (The Adventures of a Celebrity Assistant) and "The Devil Wears Prada." I've started "The Emperor of Scent" (a non-fiction about a man who goes on a scent-quest, learning the trade and secrets of the perfume industry) but, I haven't got past Chapter 1 on that one because I keep leaving it at work.

I will probably finish these books in a weeks or so, so my big question to you is, "What do YOU recommend???" New, old, whatever. If you're reading this, please do me the favor and just post a good book to read on my TagBoard.

And, mmm....other than that, this weekend has been nice, what with the Speak, See, Hear thing (probably in the wrong order), the dancing at The Depot (can we make this a thing, R?), a friend's Birthday and another's aquisition of a Driver's License. All of which is a great thing because this week will be a bitch as I am a week and half behind on my work. But, it's cool. It always works out in the end.

Anyway, remember - post a book on the TagBoard. It would really really really be appreciated. Thanks.
